Why we have not rescued victims of Kaduna train attack yet – Buhari

Must read

President Muhammadu Buhari has explained why his government is yet to rescue the victims of bandits who were kidnapped onboard an Abuja-Kaduna-bound train.

Buhari, who tweeted his Sallah message on Monday said handling of the situation required extreme caution so the victims can be rescued unharmed.

He said: “As we celebrate EidMubarak with joy amidst friends & family members, we’re fully conscious that many families are in a state of anxiety on account of the many captives held by terrorists against their will, including those taken away after the tragic #AbujaKadunaRail bombing.

“Rescuing the abducted victims is a delicate situation that requires wisdom, caution and also patience. Any rescue operation that results in the death of any hostage cannot be deemed a success. The government doesn’t want this kind of tragic outcome.

“This is a complex situation that demands proper handling. The primary objective of any rescue operation is to free the hostages safely, unharmed and alive.”

The Nigerian president assured that he will continue to ensure that there is no shortage of funds to provide security for the citizens of Nigeria.
