2023: Abia APC chieftain, Nkechi Nwaogu picks nomination forms to return to senate

Must read

Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, the immediate past chairman, Board Council of the federal University of Calabar, Cross River State, has picked the Expression of Interests and Nomination Forms of the All Progressive Congress (APC), to seek return to the Nigerian senate to represent Abia central senatorial zone of Abia State in the upcoming general elections in 2023.

This was disclosed in a terse statement by the Abia Central Senatorial aspirant, forwarded to AFRIPOST on Sunday.

Nwaogu stated, “as the quest and strive to liberate, restore, emancipate and resuscitate Abia central district from the shackles of misrepresentation and legislative redundancy gathers momentum.

“I have successfully purchased my expression of interest and Nomination forms to contest for senate, Abia central senatorial district in 2023 general election under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC)”, the ex-federal lawmaker concluded.

AFRIPOST earlier reported that Senator Nwaogu, had announced her bid to return to the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly 2023 general elections last month.

She hinted that he arrived at the decision after consultation with her family, friends and well-wishers, and further insisted that Abia Central must compete favourably with other senatorial districts in Abia State and Nigeria at large.

Nwaogu was a Member representing Osisioma Ngwa, Ugwunagbo and Obingwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 before now.

In 2007, she was elected as the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District. In 2011 she was re-elected for a second tenure in office.

Similarly, the National Assembly aspirant, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, has tasked the Abia State leadership of the APC with acceptable primaries as the party prepare for the upcoming exercise.

She maintained that the party must get it right in Abia State and field only best candidates to be able to emerge successfully in the 2023 elections, adding that the party must also rally around persons that have the pedigrees, rich contact, and passionate about the people.

“APC ticket is a jewel of inestimable value which must be given to candidates that are popular, credible and determined to win election; people with prerequisite factors”, according to the party chieftain.

Nwaogu regretted that the constituents of Abia Central Senatorial zone are being deprived of responsive and effective representations, and further assured a better Abia central if given another opportunity to serve in the upper legislative chamber come 2023.

Her words, “we are going to run a robust representation organisation of regular town hall meetings to know the various challenges our people are facing.

“In the areas of provision of basic infrastructure and social amenities, we are going to partner with the relevant federal agencies and parastatal to bring about the much desirer democracy dividends”.
