2023: Ikoh picks APC Senatorial nomination forms to run for Abia central seat

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and former Governorship aspirant from Abia State, Chief Henry Ikoh, has picked the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressive Congress to vie for the seat of Abia central senatorial district of the state at the senate in the upcoming general elections in 2023.

AFRIPOST recalls that Ikoh had in January 2022, announced his intention to vie for the office of Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to represent Abia central Senatorial District of Abia State in the coming 2023 general elections in Nigeria on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said that he was moved to contest the seat because of his desire to offer quality service to the people of the Abia central senatorial zone.

The renowned industrialist cum politician had earlier in 2021, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governing APC in Nigeria where he served as a commissioner for Industry under the first term of the incumbent Governor of the State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.

However, while presenting the nomination forms purchased and obtained from the APC national secretariat Abuja, to his teeming supporters in Umuahia on Thursday,  Chief Ikoh promised responsive and effective representation if given the opportunity to pick the party’s ticket of the All Progressive Congress in the forthcoming primaries and the main general elections in 2023.

He said that enough has not been done in Abia central senatorial zone, said that the people of Abia central deserve a better representation shrouded on industralisation and wealth creation to improve the socio-economic and Infrastructural development of Abia central.

“I have mapped two cardinal agendas  (Industralisation and Wealth Creation)  to enhance the development of Abia central senatorial zone. My defined template will usher in, genuine empowerment and development of our people through industralisation and wealth creation, as i have brought down one of business conglomerates, a manufacturing industry (Harmony Foam Nigeria Limited). I will do more for the people of Abia central if they rally around me. Enough needs to be done in Abia central. So, I will improve upon the critical areas where successive occupants of Abia central seat in the senate are unable to address.

According to Ikoh, my representation will foster economic and Infrastructural development in all sections of the Senatorial district, and also assured the electorates and members of the APC from the Abia central senatorial zone that he will not disappoint them when rally round to emerge as flagbearer in the coming primaries and in the 2023 elections, as a member representing Abia central zone at the Senate.

He also boasted that he possessed the wherewithal; the competence, capacity and wide contacts to attract the needed federal amenities in the zone as he has been tested and trusted in previous leadership capacities, both in the private sector, as a renowned industrialist, and in public sector as former Commissioner, and served in the public sector, as member of council in the State Boards and committees.

Ikoh who also used the medium to remind his party leaders and teeming supporters that no party whose house is divided can achieve a win during election, urging leaders and members of the All Progressive Congress in Abia state to close ranks and work collectively with Dr Kingsley Ononogbu-led APC in Abia state, to ensure the success of the party, especially now the 2023 elections is fast approaching in the country.

His words, “I have implicit confidence in the leadership of the All Progressive Congress in Abia State in conducting credible and acceptable primaries that will reflect the wish and will of the larger population of eligible Abia voters. I urge eligible citizens of Abia central senatorial zone to visit designated points or units provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to collect their Permanent Voters Cards for them to be able to bring the needed economic and Infrastructural face-lifts in the Abia Central Senatorial district and the 2023 elections”.
