The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has cautioned politicians against working to rig the Saturday, July 16, 2022, gubernatorial election in the State.
The party also sent a message to politicians at the Aso Rock to have a rethink and not come down to the state to manipulate the exercise.
The Director-General of the Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Sunday Bisi, made this known in Osogbo on Monday during the inauguration of the campaign committee for the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bisi disclosed that the campaign organisation will work together to ensure that the opposition party wins Osun State.
He said, “Let me be very clear with a warning, however, that I will not be in charge of a campaign for a candidate whose election would be rigged brazenly like we had in 2018.
“Anyone trying to use Aso Rock remote to rig the Osun election again should have a rethink. The State is already tensed up. Anyone not submissive to the choice of the masses of Osun this time around had better resign from the ballot.
“As enumerated by the caretaker chairman, almost all sectors of human endeavours are in comatose in the State. This is what our candidate’s manifestos are projected to address.”
The Osun PDP also constituted an anti-rigging committee, which is tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the party is not rigged out in the July poll.
Lere Oyewumi, an Osun PDP chieftain, who made the announcement, also disclosed that Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi is to chair the anti-rigging committee.
