Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii has joined the gubernatorial race in Ebonyi State under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Odii made his intention known while addressing Journalists in his country home in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The Business mogul promised to ensure smooth provision of all basic necessities for Ebonyi people.
He said “join us today to witness this historic occasion of my declaration to contest the 2023 governorship election in Ebonyi State on the platform of the PDP. This declaration is about optimism. It is my answer to the collective desire of our people for authentic leadership to pilot the affairs of our beloved state.
“This is a new promise of hope in Ebonyi. A hope that is born for the benefit of the people yet is guided by the will of God. This is a mission to serve, and I make bold to accept it in all humility.
“In my over 20 years in business, I have built successful companies with an investment portfolio from manufacturing, logistics and chemicals to real estate, healthcare and agro-allied industries.”
The gubernatorial aspirant added that “Through the Ebele and Anyichuks Foundation, my wife and I have dedicated our lives and personal resources to bring succour to the people of Ebonyi State. Using the little that God has blessed us with, we have made an impact on everything from homes to schools, scholarships to hospitals, and seed money for small businesses.
“I know my people and my people know me. I have seen the tears of a mother who cannot feed her children or pay hospital bills. I have seen the pain of a father who cannot provide for his family or pay school fees. I have visited our rural communities without access to clean water or basic healthcare.
“I have visited our farmers with a year’s worth of crops wiped out by floods. The daily experience of our youths is a life of unfulfilled aspirations and uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring.
“Violent crimes and communal clashes have become regular occurrences that stoke fear in the hearts of our people and drive our young men and women into seeking greener pastures elsewhere. I believe that my track record of success in resource management and wealth creation positions me well to deliver on the yearnings of our people.
“My vision to industrialize Ebonyi State begins with 4 tangibles: First, we must restore the people’s confidence in government and establish a social contract that will form the basis of a new partnership. I am a firm believer in the democratic process, the rule of law, and a fair reward for hard work.
“We must integrate and expand value chains across the State economy, from agriculture to industry to services, creating wealth through what we already have and growing our internally generated revenue. I am aware of the earning potential and multiplier effect that creative ideas can have.
“From music and art to theatre and fashion, the world has gone digital. We must not be left behind. Without security, all our visions and efforts will come to nothing. Therefore, our security approach in Ebonyi State will be proactive and technology-driven. I am prepared to put my best in defence of the interests of the people.
Dr Odii, therefore, invited women, students, teachers, farmers, youths, elders, all sons and daughters of Ebonyi State in Nigeria and in Diaspora to join this race of success in order to actualise a new Ebonyi State.
