Youths from southern Nigeria under the aegis of Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly (SNEYLA), have expressed concern about the alleged plot by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to make the party’s ticket open.

The Comrade Felix Worlu-led Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly, in a release made available to AFRIPOST, on Wednesday, by its National Secretary-General, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, also threatened to send the opposition party in the country to her untimely grave if it does not desist from her conspiracy.

The youth umbrella body, however, issued PDP seven days to reconsider ceding PDP presidential tickets to Southeast “or be ready to bear the consequences of such Injustice and Marginalization against the geopolitical zone.

The southern youth organization accused the PDP of turning the nights of south easterners into mere daylight and insisted that throwing the PDP presidential ticket open was a clear murder of justice, fairness and equity in Nigeria.

“Since PDP has murdered sleep from our eyes, therefore, they wouldn’t sleep again in Southern Nigeria until the party is finally buried. PDP office/flag from ward level to State will for no reason, whatsoever be in Southern Nigeria if they dare deny a South-Easterner PDP president ticket.

“By throwing PDP president ticket Open, PDP has murdered justice, fairness and equity. Therefore, Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly shall apply every political means both conventional and unconventional to send a signal to PDP from the day of primary if they deny Southeast presidential Aspirants tickets.”

The Southern youth Assembly, also insisted that the call for a rotatory style of presidency is the only way to ensure a sustainable peaceful co-existence in the country, appealing to Yusuf Magaji Bichi, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno, Maj. Gen. S.A Adebayo and others, called the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party leadership to order, on the alleged move to throw the party’s presidential ticket open, as it lamented that the actions may mar the unity of Nigeria.

“With every fairness, the Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly insist on rotational president as a condition to guarantee peace and Unity in Nigeria. PDP by their actions want to destroy Nigeria which was painstakingly built by Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and the Nigeria General Yakubu GOWON fought for in 1967/70.”

The youth Assembly also stated urged the heads of Nigeria’s security agencies to advise political parties not to deny aspirants of the southeast extraction the ticket to run 2023 presidential election, as doing so by the party, portrayed the PDP as enemy of democratic principle and justice.

“Therefore, they should not have any business to site their office let alone mount their flags in any part of Southern Nigeria, “the youth posited.

The youth assembly further regretted that the southeast part of the country had been deprived of opportunities of producing a president of the federal republic of Nigeria, since fifty-seven (57) years, maintaining that Nigeria could only reconcile Ndigbo into her political project by strictly yielding the presidential tickets to aspirants from the geopolitical zone.

The umbrella body of southern youth groups, also reiterated the Peoples Democratic Party is morally obliged to cede their presidential ticket to Southeast zone.

“Rotatory presidency is where Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Leaders Assembly stand. No doubt, that Southeast Nigeria has been marginalized and deprived of presidency since 33 years of Military rule and 24 years of Democracy rule”, southern group recounted.
