Jude Ndukwe, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, has announced interest to contest the seat of the lawmaker to represent umuahia central constituency at the assembly ahead of the 2023 general elections in Abia and other states of the Nigeria federation.
In a worded statement issued to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital on Sunday, Ndukwe hinted that he joined the state Assembly race to consolidate on the uncommon and unprecedented strides achieved by current speaker of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji which he described as immeasurable.
According to him, “this is because the achievements of our current representative and Speaker, Hon Chinedum Orji, are not only sterling and monumental on one hand, but, also because of the uniqueness of our constituency which, as a cosmopolitan area, covers a great part of our state capital with all its divergent interests, are of a special nature on the hand.
Continuing, Ndukwe said, “the shoes Mr Speaker is bequeathing to us are simply immeasurable. This is why, my elders youths, and stakeholders, we need to support an aspirant who has learnt the ropes in very disciplined circumstances directly under the tuteluge of Mr Speaker, an aspirant who understands the fact that no one man’s feet can fill in the shoe he is leaving behind but that it will take the feet of as many constituents as possible to fill; an Aspirant who has the presence of mind, the required comportment and the needed intellect to navigate the complex processes of lawmaking and who understands that the people’s interests are the only reason he was elected especially when we consider that we must not fritter away the towering legacies of Mr Speaker but that, together, we must consolidate on them, hence my Consolidation Agenda And that calls for a humble, humane and listening representative who carries everybody along”.
The 2023 House of Assembly hopeful promised quality representation, people’s oriented legislation and constructive oversight in order to enhance human, economic and Infrastructural development in Umuahia central Constituency.
His statement partly, “My Dear elders, youths and stakeholders, as we begin the ultimate search for a worthy representative of our great Umuahia central state constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly come 2023., I come to you with profound humility and a high sense of responsibility knowing fully well that the task before us is not only enormous but also intricate.
“Let me reiterate that I am very much aware that the task before us all is immense, the enormity of the Consolidation Agenda is stupendous, but I am equally audacious, never fazed, never cowed and never bowed. Together, we will sustain the legacies on ground and even reach for higher heights.
“I, therefore, most respectfully put myself forward to endure the burdens of this responsibility in order that you will enjoy the benefits, benefits arising from quality representation, people-oriented legislation and constructive oversight.
“On this note, I was humbled to have picked the expression of interest and nomination forms today, the 1st day of April, 2022, at the state Secretariat of our great party, PDP, with the great conviction that I shall serve you with all my strength, all my might and all my intellect, with the fear of God”.
