Must read

Insecurity in Nigeria was a major source of worry to the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) on Thursday, as raised the alarm over the state of insecurity across the country.

In a statement by the NGF Chairman, Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Thursday in Abuja after the NGF teleconference meeting, they expressed concerns about what the current insecurity situation has done to the nation and its citizens.

The governors also received a briefing on the Nigerian Economy: New Perspectives, from Chief Economic Adviser to Mr. President, Dr Doyin Salami.

The statement further revealed that after the briefing, a consensus was reached by the governors to work assiduously towards economic diversification and food security initiatives through the support for large-scale all-season commercial farming.

“Consensus was also reached to strengthen fiscal sustainability by crowding in private investment; promoting the development of regional corridors and infrastructure plans; as well as curtailing the uncertainty associated with the oil and gas industry.”

The governors also assured the NNPC as well as security agencies in the country, that they will ensure the protection of the country’s oil infrastructure and investments. Another assurance by the governors was that of the protection of the ecosystem of the Niger Delta.
