A leading member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara state, Engr Musa Ayinla Yeketi, has been suspended for working against the interest of the party.

He was accused of flirting with the ruling APC government in the state according to credible sources in the PDP.

Sources informed Afripost newspaper that the PDP chieftain had planned to decamp to the ruling APC government in the state on Saturday but was put off for unknown reasons.

Engr Yeketi’s suspension was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Chairman and Secretary of his ward, Malam Salaudeen Babatunde and Salman Andulkadir respectively.

The statement read in part; “This is to inform the members of the PDP and the general public that the Alapa/Onire/Ode Giwa ward executive members of the PDP, have suspended Engr Musa Ayinla Yeketi from the PDP effective from Thursday the 17th of March, 2022 in accordance with Section 57(3) of the party’s constitution as amended.”

Engr Yeketi, was a prominent member of former governor Bukola Saraki’s government and one of the favourites of the immediate past eighth National Assembly former Senate President.

For the 16 years that the PDP held sway in Kwara state under Dr Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed, Engr Yeketi served in various capacities as former Chairman Governing Council of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, former Commissioner for Education and later Ministry of Works.

The state Chairman of the party, Malam Babatunde Mohammed, confirmed the suspension, saying Engr Yeketi shunned an invitation to appear before a disciplinary committee on the matter of alleged anti party activity leveled against him.

He said although he was yet to receive the notice of suspension by the ward executive members, the state executive would take necessary action as soon as the letter of suspension is received.

Former Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, at the weekend held a meeting with members of the party aspiring to contest in the 2023 general elections urging them to work as a team for the resounding success of the party in the state.
