Former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano was Thursday arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos.
On his way to the United States, after a successful hand over to his successor, Prof Charles Soludo at Government House Awka, Obiano was arrested at about 8.30pm.
Channels Television reports that Obiano has been on the anti-graft agency watchlist since November 2021.
AFRIPOST could not get EFCC for comment on why the former governor was on its watchlist as at the time of filing this report.
Channel Television said the EFCC had requested the Nigeria Immigration Service to inform it anytime the Governor is travelling out of the country from any of the international airports, as well as other points of entry and exit.
