An all-important National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will begin today at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Akoka.
The principal officers of ASUU as well as branch chairmen stormed UNILAG for the crucial to decide the fate of Nigerian students.
ASUU has been engaging with the government over its threat to embark on a fresh strike.
ASUU is demanding among other things the implementation of the 2020 signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoA). It’s also protesting against the non-conclusion of the renegotiation of 2009 FG/ASUU agreement, non-use of University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS), unpaid members salaries and failure of Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
ASUU had threatened that if urgent action is not taken by the government, it will in a couple of days embark on an indefinite strike.
