suspected gunmen reportedly snatch bullion van, kill police officers in Ibadan

 

Ibadan, Nigeria: Suspected armed robbers have hijacked a bullion van in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

According to a report by DAILY POST, the bullion van was attacked at Idi Ape junction, opposite a private school on Thursday afternoon.

The attack happened shortly after the bullion van left one of the banks in Ibadan. The bank is located close to the Testing Ground Police station which houses one of the area commands of the Nigeria Police Force in the state.

The gunmen reportedly shot sporadically, scaring passersby while the operation lasted.

Residents of Ibadan the attack had sent emergency messages to their loved ones to steer clear of the area.

Currently, there are sketchy details on the identity of the attackers as well as the intervention by the police.
