Rochas Okorocha not our member – APC

Must read

Okorocha’s presidential aspiration in murky waters as APC disowns him

The aspiration of former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha is almost in jeopardy as the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that the former Governor is not its member.

Okorocha is aspiring to run for the position of the nation’s president in 2023.

But the state chapter of the party in a remark denied claims that it has endorsed Okorocha’s presidential ambition.

Cajetan Duke, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, said the Imo West Senator did not revalidate his membership during APC’s last registration and revalidation exercise.

In a statement issued on Monday, Duke said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the leadership of Imo APC declares that Okorocha, representing Imo West at the Senate is as at today, no longer a member of the APC because of his deliberate failure to revalidate his membership of the party during the last registration and revalidation exercise adjudged to be most transparent, open and peaceful.

“It is, therefore, odious and extreme subterfuge for anyone to issue statement indicating that Imo APC, which Okorocha is no longer a member, has endorsed and passed vote of confidence in him to contest for the presidential ticket of our great party.”

Emphasizing that the Imo APC is led by Macdonald Ebere, Duke said it never passed any vote of confidence in Okorocha.

He explained that the decision was due to Okorocha’s “melodramatics when he was the governor of Imo State.”

He claimed that Okorocha does not have what it takes to be Nigeria’s President.

Duke warned that it would be a grave error to allow the former Governor to rule Nigeria.
