Gov. Lalong approves membership of Peter Gad into OGP C’ttee

Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has approved the membership of Comrade Peter Gad into Plateau State Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee.

The open government partnership is an international forum of national and sub national governments that subscribe to the promotion of Access to information, accountability, citizens engagement and fiscal transparency.

The approval letter dated 2 February, obtained by AFRIPOST reads:

“In its drive to further enshrine good governance in Plateau State, the Rescue Administration, in collaboration with the Plateau State Civil Societies Forum, enrolled the State into the prestigious OGP Local Programme, an international forum of national and subnational governments that subscribe to the promotion of Access to Information, Accountability, Citizens Engagement and Fiscal Transparency.

“Consequently, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, has approved your Membership of the Plateau State Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee.

“The Thematic Areas that Plateau State has expressed interest in pursuing in the first phase of participation in the OGP Local Programme for 2021 -2023 include: Gender, Open Contracting, Peace and Security, Citizens Participation and Fiscal Transparency.”

Responding, Comrade Gad said, “I naturally feel so honored and privileged to be recognised and made a member of this global initiative by the Plateau state government.

“Being a member of this committee has further echo the need for me to continue to push for citizens’ engagement, accountability and transparency in the society,” he noted.
