Arsenal will lock horns with Southampton on Wednesday evening as all eyes will be keen to see how they perform against the visitors who have been outstanding in recent weeks in the Premier League.
The pressure will continue to mount on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta until they record a win at least at the Emirates.
It is tough to say if Arsenal is favourite going into this game against the Saints owing to their poor form in recent weeks, but they have the quality to take the game to the visitors while they get their acts together, following their defeat to Burnley on Sunday.
With the possibility of this happening based on Arsenal’s quality, we (DAILY POST) analyse the skills of some special players that could bring the balance Arsenal needs over the Saints.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Striker)
The Gabon star has been underwhelming recently prompting questions about his place in the team for Arsenal.
Arteta signals the stakes that the former Borussia Dortmund star is not guaranteed a starting berth for the Gunners.
He’s been underperforming for the London side just like Brazilian star Willian and this has largely contributed in grounding Arsenal outside of the top ten in the league standings. But Aubameyang must rise up to the occasion especially now that his side is in need of his talent on the pitch.
He has the quality as a renowned world-class player and he should brace up with the mantle to make the difference while he also leads by example as the Captain (Skipper) of Arsenal football club.
Bukayo Saka (Utility Player)
The young lad has been outstanding, to say the least, and this earned him the Number 7 jersey worn by legendary figures like Robert Pires, Tomas Rosicky and others at the club.
He would be expected to start again for Arsenal in this fixture as a proof of his immense quality despite his very young age.
He has a good centre of gravity on the pitch coupled with the flair and good decision making that blights his youthful age as a player.
These attributes as a budding talent should help him assert his authority at least in match proceedings while he helps Arsenal close down the opposition when they are not in the possession of the ball.
Dani Ceballos (Central Midfielder)
The Spanish midfielder would play his part much with the absence of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in midfield.
The latter was seen off in the defeat against Burnley on Sunday after his controversial showings on the pitch.
Thomas Partey’s injury may see the onus rest on Mohamed Elneny and Dani Ceballos to perform for Arsenal in the midfield.
Though the side lacks the fear factor and influence Mesut Ozil could bring in linking up the midfield to the attack when he (Ozil) steps onto the pitch.
