COVID-19 Palliative: Boniface Apochi donates N2.5m to Owukpa indigens  across Nigeria

The Executive Managing Director of Unified Payment System and Owukpa born philanthropist, Barr. Boniface Agada Apochi has donated the sum of N2.5 million as a palliative to vulnerable sons and daughters of his immediate community to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown on the people.

Owukpa is the second-largest community in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

In a statement made available to the Owukpa Traditional Council through Ad’Ogbadibo and Chairman of Ogbadibo Area Traditional Council, HRH, Chief Emmanuel Odeh and the leadership of Owukpa Development Association (ODA), Apochi disclosed criteria for qualification of beneficiaries and stressed that selection should not be based on membership of ODA in the selected states.

The selected states include Lagos, Abuja, Makurdi, Otukpo, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Jos and Kano.

The statement reads, “Given the current economic challenges facing Nigeria and the entire world, I would like to provide a modest support of N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira) to 500 “Five Hundred sons and daughters of Owukpa who may require financial assistance for feeding, making a total of N2.5 million.

“The total number of beneficiaries will be 500 drawn from the following towns/cities:

  1. Lagos – 150
    2. Abuja – 150
    3. Makurdi – 50
    4. Otukpo – 50
    5. Port Harcourt – 25
    6. Kaduna – 25
    7. Jos – 25
    8. Kano – 25

“A beneficiary need not be a member of ODA but must be a son or daughter of Owukpa resident in any of the towns indicated above.

“Where an individual is in employment, the salary should have been stopped or the person has other known challenges that make feeding difficult.

“Beneficiary should be unable to feed himself or herself during this period.

“Only one (1) member of the same household, spouses or siblings should benefit.

“Beneficiaries should be those in need and should NOT under any circumstance be based on factors such as clan, sub-branches, Itabono, Ehaje.
