COVID-19: Enugu residents defy sit-at-home order

Must read

Transactions and other social activities have continued in some parts of Enugu State as many residents ignore the sit-at-home order.

Our correspondent who spoke with some residents said the situation was not different from normal time.

When asked why they were not complying with the social distance order, Mrs Chika Umah to our correspondent that it is impossible to do that in the market.

“How do you intend to control all these people, especially now that everyone is struggling to buy his or her needs with the little money in their pockets?,” she asked.

Mrs Stella Onyia, a fashion designer acknowledge that the sit-at-home order was a good effort from the government to curtail the spread of the disease but hunger has forced them out of the home.

“The directive is good for everyone but since there is no palliative from the government, we need to go out to make some money in order to feed our families,” Onyia said.
