Coronavirus hits New York zoo as Tiger tests positive, lions show symptoms

Must read

A Tiger at New York Zoo has tested positive to Coronavirus while other animals are reportedly showing symptoms of the deadly virus.

This is against the earlier report indicating that some animals are immune to the virus.

The report has broken record as the first Tiger in the world to have contracted the disease.

The announcement was made by the federal officials and the zoo after a test was conducted in Iowa by the USDAā€™s National Veterinary Services Laboratory.

The tiger was reported to have been infected after exposure to a zoo worker who wasnā€™t yet showing symptoms, the zoo said.

ā€œAppropriate preventative measures have been implemented to care for the cats and minimize further exposure.

ā€œAccording to the Wildlife Conservation Society, six other large cats and three African lions are also showing Coronavirus symptoms, but they are all expected to recover.

ā€œThough they have experienced some decrease in appetite, the cats at the Bronx Zoo are otherwise doing well under veterinary care and are bright, alert, and interactive with their keepers,ā€ the zooā€™s release read.
