Residents of Owase Community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, have lost two young men who were also members of the community, when unknown gunmen invaded the community in search of the duo and shot them dead.

The incident which occurred on Saturday at about 10am was suspected to be as a result of Cult clash.

An eyewitness, who spoke with our correspondent on anonymity, said the gunmen drove into the area and dumped the deceased whom they had already beaten and tied with rope near a transformer.

According to the eyewitness,”They immediately shot the deceased before they left the scene.

“One of the deceased died instantly while the other sustained serious gunshot injuries.

“The incident attracted sympathizers who promptly called the President-General of the Community to the scene.

It was the President-General that informed the Police in Ovwian/Aladja Division.

“It was at the point of rushing the second victim to hospital that he gave up the ghost.”

“When contacted for comments, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the report in a text message he sent to our correspondent in Warri.

“Yes. Just now the DPO confirmed the deceased to be cultists and that the murder is cult related,” he said.
