Must read

The World Assembly of Youth, WAY, has called on all telecommunication companies to downwardly review charges on calls and data in a bid to make communication and life easy for Nigerians as the world battles COVID-19 outbreak.

In a press statement signed by COMR. EVANG. T. VICTOR ANOWEY, Special Assistant to the Vice President of WAY on programs, WAY urged the industry to put in consideration the level of hardship imposed on Nigerians via the ‘stay at home’ order occasioned by the global pandemic and reduce call and data charges/tariffs to ease the sufferings of subscribers in the trying moment.

The statement reads, “Nigerians have contributed immensely to the success of your corporation in terms of loyal Patronage, a time like this thus avails itself a veritable opportunity for your esteemed establishment to give back to society, as part of her corporate social responsibility”.

WAY also asked the companies to offer daily airtime bonuses to their subscribers which will help in alleviating the sufferings faced by average Nigerians currently.

“We request that your esteemed establishment should consider downward review of her tariffs to support average Nigerians in a difficult time like this. Therefore, we recommend:

“That telecommunication companies in Nigeria offer daily airtime Bonuses to all subscribers to assist Nigerians who are trapped, isolated, or need emergency response to reach out for rescue, evacuation or assistance.

“That the network providers reduce the prices of her data bundles and increase its validity period.

“The above interventions will have more direct positive economic impact on the struggling

Nigerians and businesses (notwithstanding any general support donation your corporation may make to the Federal Government).

“In anticipation we remain grateful to favorable consideration of our recommendations.

“That call Tariffs are reduced as well”.
