Police Rescue Abducted 14-Year-Old Girl In Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a 14-year-old girl allegedly kidnapped in Onitsha, Anambra State, about a month ago.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, on Monday said three suspects, including a female, were arrested in connection with the abduction.

He said the victim was held hostage for 27 days and allegedly raped by the suspects.

Mohammed said she was rescued by the Special Anti Robbery Squad at a hideout in Ogidi.

He said the command’s Special Anti Robbery Squad trailed and arrested the suspects at their hideout in Ogidi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

He gave the names of the suspects as Onyemechi Aniobi (23) Elochukwu Okudo (25 ) and Pauline Elechi (24).

He added, “Suspects had allegedly kidnapped a 14-year-old girl in Onitsha and taken her to an undisclosed location.

“Consequently, the syndicate contacted the victim’s mother through SMS and demanded a ransom of N10 million which was later reduced after much pleading by the mother.

“Suspects equally sent a bank account number bearing one John Blessing to the victim’s parent to deposit the ransom.

“Meanwhile, the victim who was held hostage for 27 days and allegedly raped several times by the suspects was rescued by the police and taken to the hospital for medical examination.”

Mohammed said the suspects would be charged after investigations were concluded
