El-Rufai Set To Increase Pensioners’ Pay  From N3,000 To N30,000 Monthly

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has promised to increase pensioners’ benefit from N3,000 to N30,000 monthly.

El-Rufai who said pensioners take home in the state was unacceptable and very poor in a statement signed by his spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, promised that the proposed increase would be presented to the State Executive Council meeting for approval.

He assured them that payment will take effect immediately the state Executive Council approves it.

The governor said, although the new increment will increase the wage bill of Kaduna state by N200 million, it was pertinent to let pensioners receive decent pay.

The State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), had written a letter of commendation to the governor for raising the minimum pension payment in the state to N30,000 monthly.

Alhaji Abdu Ramalan Kwarbai who is the state Chairman of NUP noted that Malam El-Rufai is the first governor to announce the payment of minimum pension and that it shows his love and concern for the senior citizens in the state.

According to the Chairman of NUP, Governor El-Rufai’s decision to raise pension “shows the level of your concern for the aged and senior citizens of Kaduna State.”

The union while commending the governor also pointed out that El-Rufai is the first governor to pay the new national minimum wage. NAN
