…Nigerians Should Be Engage More In Agriculture For Economic Development—Expert

An agriculturist, Mr. Solomon Okopi has urged Nigerians to engage more in agriculture practice as the demand for food locally has been on the high side.  Given the fact that what is produce would not be enough to feed the country’s growing population.

According to him, ‘Nigerians are more of a consuming Nation than a producing nation.’

Mr. Okopi, in a statement made available to pressmen in Jos, Plateau State while playing host to the Joint Action Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria (JACCSON), said that through Agriculture the youths can be meaningfully engage and boost the economy.  Okopi was over the weekend been decorated and presented with ‘the Icon of Greater Nigeria 2018 Award’ by JACCSON in the Agricultural Revolution category.

At the Event, the Director Public Affairs of the Coalition, Comr. Abah Abah stated that the award to Mr. Okopi the Petroleum expert turn Agricultural magnate is into livestock, and cash crops production has contributed to agriculture, community, youth and economic development of Nigeria.  That what he produces in the farm have also proved the award is well deserved and can encourage others.

He also urges the Federal Government to do more in supporting farmers like Mr. Okopi.

Okopi holds a Bachelors of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

He has two Masters Degrees in Human Resource Management, and Business Administration, from the Universities of Bedfordshire, and Edinburgh respectively.

He is the Vice President, Commercial and Operations of the Petroleum Projects International, and has a great drive to see Nigeria better placed in its agriculture.
