Department of State Security (DSS) have arrested governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State’s aide in connection with the spate of violence in the state.
According to sources in the DSS, the aide Tikaa Desmond also known as Senator was arrested alongside two others; Ada James and Joseph Ikpa, who are well-known Commanders of Terwase Agwaza also known as Gana.
Thenigerian reports that the trio was arrested on an Island not far from Gbise, known to be Gana’s hideout during an operation by the Air force wing of Operation whirlwind in certain locations in Benue recently.
The arrest of Tikaa who is a Special Assistant to Ortom on Community Relations is believed to be one of those whose confessional statements implicated the former Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam who was arrested on Tuesday.
This further puts a dent in the governor’s acclaimed dedication to the end of violence in the state with the continued involvement of and mention of his aides as involving in these acts.
Afri Post recalls that Ortom had declared Terwase Akwaza wanted with a bounty placed on his head, therefore any association of his aide to the wanted criminal puts a question mark to the governor’s seriousness.
