Residents of Kajola street, Barrack road in Ondo town, Ondo State, were during the weekend thrown into confusion after decompose body of a-72-year old man, Titus Agunbiade was found in the area.
The deceased popularly called “Chief” in the area, was said to have committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope on a wooden pillar inside his late father’s house.
The reason for his action could not be ascertained as the deceased did not leave any suicide note behind.
Afripostng learnt that the septuagenarian climbed the two storey building with a ladder before hanging himself with a long rope in one of the rooms inside the house.
It was also gathered that his decomposed body was later discovered after six days by a young man who was said to be living with him in the house.
The boy was said to have earlier informed other members of the family about disappearance of late Agunbiade before his decomposed body was later discovered.
A source within the family told LEADERSHIP that the deceased may have terminated his life as a result of protracted illness which he has spent all his money on, but no cure.
When contacted on the matter, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Yaba police station, Mrs. Regina Mogbojuri, was said to have been travelled out of the town to observe her annual leave.
But a senior police officer at the station confirmed the incident.
The officer who do not want his name mentioned, disclosed that the information concerning the incident has been forwarded to the appropriate quarters at the state police command headquarters in Akure, the state capital.
