Army Trailing Peddlers Of Vaccination Rumour

Must read

The Nigerian Army has said it is trailing those behind the vaccination smear campaign in the South East.

In a statement by the Army high command, the vaccination rumour was aimed at tarnishing the reputable image of the service, and any culprit found will face the wrath of the law.

He lamented that the bid by the Army to offer free medical service was hijacked by some elements that started spreading rumour of face vaccination in the South in other to inflict the people with monkey pox disease and reduce their population.

Speaking exclusively to Journalists Weekend yesterday, the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka, said the Nigerian Army is working with other relevant security agencies to detect and apprehend the criminals behind the rumours and smear campaign.

He said commanders at various levels had been interfacing with all the relevant stakeholders, including government, traditional rulers and community heads, as well as other security agencies and the media to fish out the culprits.

Usman noted that the Nigerian Army had written to the various affected state governments on activities of the exercise, adding that the vaccination exercise only exists in the figment of the imaginations of those behind the criminal rumour.

“Exercise ‘Egwu Eke (Python Dance) ll, which started fully on the 15th of September to 14th October 2017 is a normal routine by Nigerian Army Field Training Exercise and it is meant to sharpen the skills of the participating troops in the conduct of Internal Security Operations”, he stated.
