Must read

Vice president, American football for African Mission (AFFAM), Abdullahi Abdulhakeem has said in the next five years, their goal is to have at least four youths teams in every state in Nigeria.

Speaking to Journalists at the  inaugural youth American football league camp in Zaria,he said most of the kids in the ongoing camp are learning very fast the rudiments of American football .

The youth camp started last week and it is expected to last for three months.

The vice president said they wanted 100 kids for the camp and so far more than 320 kids have showed up.

“After the elimination series only 44 of them will remain . The winning team will represent the north west  zone in the National Youth American football league that will be coming up next year after we have gone to all zones in the country .

“To my surprise they are learning very fast, most of them are naturals. For now most of the kids don’t have training kits and that is where we need sponsors to come in and support the growth of American football in the country.

In the next five years we are hoping to have a youth team at least four teams  in every state in Nigeria so that there will be able to play the National league. We also had instructors  from Zaria Titans who came to help train this kids. We thank the Zaria community and the parents of the kids,” he stated.

On his part, the youngest kid in camp, Monday bamitoni, who is four years old and   plays running back,  said his dream is to play the game professionally and also be a military man.

He said “my  experience in the camp, so far, I am  meeting people of all tribes and my  parents supported me to come to camp .I  want to represent Nigeria in the future in American football .

LEADERSHIP.
