HoS Establishes Staff Welfare Department

Must read

The Head of Service (HoS) of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, in her quest to improve civil servants welfare has established a staff welfare office.

Making the disclosure yesterday at the 2017 Head of Civil Service Interdenominational Christian Fellowship annual Love Feast, Oyo-Ita said from her innermost mind, her daily prayers had been better welfare for Nigerian civil servants.

Represented by Pastor Mrs Maureen Ubi, an assistant director of Monitoring and Reporting, the Hos announced that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the 2017-2020 Strategic Plans of the civil service.

She said, “Our 2017-2020 Strategic Plans has been approved by the Federal Executive Council and one of the goals of these Strategic Plans is staff welfare. And to give effect to that, especially as it relates to housing for all civil servants, the HoS got approval and a department called the Federal Integrated Housing Scheme (FIHS) was set up.

“Recently, that department has been upgraded to an office known as ‘Staff Welfare Office’, which is to drive, not only the aspect of housing for all civil servants, but also holistically address the welfare of civil servants in terms of training and facilitating payments of salary arrears of all civil servants.”

The Head of Service further noted that the Staff Welfare Office took off a week ago, adding that the committee set up on that is working and will soon submit its report to enable the department fly.

Earlier in his welcome address, the coordinator, Head of Civil Service Interdenominational Christians Fellowship, Elder Atawodi Moses, urged Nigerians to demonstrate true love towards one another.

Atawodi reiterated that nobody can love God if he or she does not love other human beings created by God.

He said, “No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.

“As a nation, we should demonstrate our deep love for one another with practical deeds, not just in words only. Like Jesus was willing to sacrifice for our gain, so we should be willing to sacrifice to benefit others”.

Expressing his worries over the recent decline of love amongst brethren, Moses Atawodi said, genuine love is very sacrosant for national development.

LEADERSHIP.
