2019 General Elections: ADC Zones Presidential Ticket To North

Must read

African Democratic Congress (ADC) party has zoned its presidential ticket in the coming 2019 general elections to Northern part of the country.

This was made known to Newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday by the national chairman of the party, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu.

The national chairman said the zoning was part of its efforts at re-engineering the party to take over leadership of the country both at the federal and state levels in 2019.

“For clarity, we have zoned the Presidential ticket to the North for the 2019 elections,” the party’s national chairman said yesterday at a press conference in Abuja. “Through a democratic process, ADC intends to produce the next President, come May 2019,” he added.

For equity,  Nwosu said the ADC has also zoned the Presidency to the South East in 2023, stating that “ADC believes that equity, justice, and fair-play are sine qua non to good governance, development, and national strength.”

The party joined its voice with the majority of Nigerians seeking restructuring of the current political and economic arrangement of the nation. In that regard, ADC said, “Restructuring and true federation will give our country the latitude to be a global economic and political force,” adding, “we should embrace it.”

“The National Assembly should stop their timidity and allow Nigeria to blossom. ADC believes that governance is not collection and squandering of rents; rather it is building an enamored ecosystem for wealth creation, security and prosperity,” the party said.

Mr Nwosu asserted that ADC is the only party that can lead the desired change and provide a vision-driven transformational leadership to save Nigeria.

The party decried the current bad state of things in the country, which it said was caused by “elite hypocrisy.” “The current stupor is brought about by the conspiracy of a few and the unbridled deal making and patronage character of a majority of the elites”, the national chairman said in his keynote address at the congress that took at Stone Hedge Hotels in Abuja.
