Prove You Deserve Second Term – Obi Challenges Obiano

Must read

BY OKECHUKWU OBETA, Awka

As the campaigns for the forthcoming November 18 Anambra state governorship election gathers momentum, the immediate past Governor Peter Obi has challenged the incumbent governor, Chief Willie Obiano to point at what he had done so far that make him feel that he merits a second tenure.

Speaking at the weekend at Otuocha, headquarters of Governor Obiano’s Anambra East local government area when he accompanied the governorship candidate of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Oseloka Obaze who was on tour of the 21 local government areas of the state expresses gratitude to PDP delegates during the party primary that produced him as candidate and other stakeholders of the party, Obi made it clear that he has no personal quarrel with anybody, especially Governor Obiano.

He particularly described the allegation that he demanded N7 billion from Governor Obiano as untrue and baseless, stating that he left a total of N75 billion for the governor to inherit arguing that it was not possible that he would leave such whooping amount for him and turn round to ask him to give him  N7bilłion since he had all the opportunities to take the amount and even more before handing over to him.

“I have nothing personal against him ( Obiano). My concern is that our state has to develop. It was during my first term that I constructed the road from Mmiata Anam – Nzam road, the same thing I did everywhere. If anybody is telling you that I am quarreling with your son because he refused to give me N75 billion, it not true. I’m not quarreling with anybody”, Obi stated.

Addressing the PDP members, Mr. Obaze who thanked them for reposing confidence in him to fly the party’s governorship flag stated that the purpose of his visit was further to present to them his running- mate, daughter of former Vice-president Alex Ekwueme, Barr. Mrs. Chidi Alexandra Onyemelukwe.

Describing his running-mate in glowing colours as a hard-working and properly educated woman who had served as Special Adviser in the presidency, Mr. Obaze pledged that his administration would bring unprecedented transformation to the state.

He said his administration would bring equal development to all parts of the state and urged the PDP members to work hard in mobilizing the electorate to vote for the party in the election.

Also speaking, twin sibling of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, Dr. Tony Nwoye, Barr. Ernest Nwoye urged members of the party to work hard to ensure the victory of the PDP in the election praising the integrity the party’s governorship candidate, Mr Obaze.
