The endorsement of Kadun State governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai by some party members to contest the 2019 election was a political drama, an APC chieftain, Mock Samuel Kure has said.
Kure who said the endorsement was done by few people in the party, added that if nothing is done to redeem the image of the APC, it’s dream of ruling Kaduna state for a long time would be truncated.
Speaking at a Liberty TV programme, “Dialogue,” Kure said the gathering that endorsed el-Rufai for 2019 was that of the ‘governors Hallelujah boys.’
“There can’t be a gathering of APC stakeholders where Senators, all the members of the House of Representatives in the National Assembly from Kaduna state won’t be invited. The real APC stakeholders were not invited,” Kure said.
According to him, thousands of APC members at the grassroots were left out of the meeting that endorsed Elrufai for the 2019 election.
“The likes of Hon Tijani Ramalan, Hon Mikiah Tokwak, Hon Isa Ashiru, Hon Haruna Saeed, Hon Sani Sha’aban, Yero Makama Rigachikun and many others were not invited for that meeting,” Kure said.
According to Kure, some people in power always love praise singers adding that the endorsement was a ploy by some followers of the APC to prove to the governor that all is well in the party.
While speaking on why the Senator representing Kaduna North in the National Assembly crashed into the meeting despite the fact that he was not invited, Kure said Suleinman Hunkuyi was the one who invited el-Rufai to contest as governor of Kaduna state.

“Hunkuyi invited el-Rufai to contest for the governorship. He invited him for the first time, he refused. Until he followed him to his base the third time before he (el-Rufai) agreed to contests.”
“Elrufai was not having structures. Hunkuyi’s structure was used and we campaign for him and he won. So, how can such a meeting hold without an invitation extended to Hunkuyi? He attended the meeting because of his love for APC,” Kure added.
“So, the meeting itself was a political comedy because it is on record that in every ward, APC have delegates. At least, we have three people in every ward as delegates and many of these people were not invited. Some party officials were not invited. With all that is happening, If nothing is done fast, APC dream of winning Kaduna in 2019 will be truncated,” Kure added.
