Biafra: Igbo Governors Set Up Committee To Investigate Army, IPOB Clash At Nnamdi Kanu’s House

Must read

Following the alleged clash between men of the Nigerian Army and some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, South East Governors have set-up a seven – man committee to investigate the incident.

The Forum’s Director of Media Communications, Michael Udah, who made the disclosure, said the committee is expected to submit its report during the next meeting of the Forum on September 15.

In a statement he issued on Tuesday, Udah explained that the committee was set up to find a lasting solution to such problems and forestall future occurrences.

According to Udeh, the governors were consulting with relevant stakeholders in the zone including the military to ensure clarity of positions.

He said, “Reports in the social media that the governors condemned the alleged attack on IPOB members are false, but instead, they are working assiduously to bring lasting peace and stability to the zone.

“I did not tell any medium on the social and print media that the governors condemned the incident as they would soon meet to review the situation.

“I urge my colleagues in the media to exercise decorum in their reportage to avoid creation of false and embarrassing impressions about sensitive national issues.”

Following the launching of Operation Python Dance II in the South-East by the Nigerian Army, some Army personnel allegedly killed some IPOB members in Umuahia on Sunday.

However, the Assistant Director of Public Relations of the 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Major Oyegoke Gbadamosi, Ohafia, denied the alleged invasion of Kanu’s residence.
