Senator Oko Commissions Constituency Projects [PHOTO]

The senator representing Cross River State northern senatorial district in the Nigerian senate, Senator Rose Okoji Oko on Friday embarked on a tour of her senatorial district and commissioned key constituency projects.

The commissioned projects which formed part of her 2016 zonal intervention projects include competed block of classrooms each at Udiege Community Primary School, Udiege Urban I, and Holy Child Convent School Ugaga as well as distribution of textbooks all of Obudu, Yala and Obanliku local government areas respectively.

Senator Oko, who pledged to sponsor best performing students from the various schools up to university level, said she was impressed with the standard of the projects adding that the projects will bridge education infrastructure gap in the senatorial district.

The senator, who is also the chairman, Senate committee on Diaspora and NGOs as well as deputy chairman, Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Senior Secondary), promised to continue to push for improved education infrastructures across her constituency and Nigerian at large.

She said, “As a former teacher, commissioner for education, university lecturer and now deputy chairman, Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary), I will continue to ensure that our children get the best in terms of basic education and with better infrastructure and learning materials.”

Also, while making her remarks during the commissioning, Senator Oko promised to ensure the dilapidated Okpoma/Okuku road, Ipuole Ugaga/Ochubi road in Yala LGA a well as another road in Obanliku LGA are added in the 2018 budget for construction.

At Udiege Urban 1, Obudu, Senator Oko was warmly received by students, teachers, parents, community leaders, women, party stalwarts as well youth groups, who were present at the commissioning to show their love and support.

Earlier during the commissioning exercise, head teacher of Udiege Community Primary School, Mr Agogo Thomas Undie, said he was delighted that his school was chosen as beneficiary of the intervention projects and thanked the senator for the gesture.

Climaxing the commissioning exercise at Holy Child Convent School, Ugaga, where traditional royal fathers including the Ada Oglagu of Ugaga with his council of chiefs, students, teachers key stakeholders of the community were all present.

The head teacher of the school Mrs Mary Ogeyi Odey said the project which is a fulfilment of Senator Oko’s campaign promises is people oriented and impact laden. She said, “It is said that what a man can do a woman can do even better. This is what we are witnessing today that Senator Rose Oko’s performance has surpassed able men legislators put together in the northern senatorial district of Cross River State.”
