The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kaduna State Command has impounded a truck loaded with 33,000 litres of petroleum product suspected to be black oil
The unbranded truck Model 95400 DAF ATI without registration number was reportedly abandoned at Kinkinau close to Ungwan Muazu in Kaduna-South Local Government Area.
Investigation reveals that the vehicle in question was parked at the location for many days leading to the command’s action to tow the vehicle from the area.
State Commandant, Alhaji Modu Bunu who spoke on the incident said, “at about 1740hours on 22nd July, 2017, the command received a report of a tanker which was parked at Kinkinau in Ungwan-Muazu.”
According to the Commandant, “On receipt of the information, I detailed operatives to the scene. But on getting there, the truck was seen but no one was at hand to give detailed information on where the truck was loaded from and where the suspected content was transported to, Bunu maintained.
“it is the responsibility of the corps to ascertain the destination of the vehicle as well as ownership of the product. On conclusion of the investigation, if ownership of the truck and suspected product is not established the command would act based on further directives from our National Headquarters”.
The commandant appreciated collaboration of persons who reported the suspected vandalized product to the corps, assuring others of secrecy when reports of threats are forwarded to the command.
