Murder Of Joy Odama: Cross River Lawmakers Vow To Probe Alhaji Adamu’s Alleged Involvement

The Cross River State House of Assembly has passed resolutions seeking to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of Joy Odama, a 20-year old undergraduate of Cross River State University by one Abuja-based Alhaji, Adamu Usman.

The resolutions were sequel to a motion of public importance moved by Regina Anyogo (Yala I PDP) calling for a “thorough investigation” into Odama’s death on December 20, 2016.

The House resolved to do the following: to set up a 5 man special committee to investigate the matter, to write to the Inspector General of Police to set up a panel of investigation to examine the circumstances of Miss Odama’s death, and to determine the extent of the alleged culpability of the accused Alhaji Adamu Usman.

The lawmakers also agreed to mandate the Attorney General of the state to liaise with the Attorney General of the federation to facilitate investigation.

They further called on the State Security Services (SSS), Human Rights Organizations and other concerned bodies to take up the matter in order to ensure that justice is served.

It could be recalled that Alhaji Adamu has been declared wanted by the Police Force Headquarters.
