The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Plateau State have vowed to remain in the party no matter which side the expected Supreme Court Judgment would swing between Makarfi and Sheriff-led factions.
The Supreme Court had on Monday reserved judgment in the case brought before it by Makarfi’s faction, challenging the ruling of an Appeal Court, which declared Sheriff as the authentic national chairman of the party.
This was disclosed by Chief Damishi Sango, Plateau PDP Chairman, on Wednesday in Jos shortly after inaugurating a 7-Man Disciplinary Committee at the Party Secretariat.
“Plateau is where is PDP was birthed in 1998 and so it is our baby; we shall not abandon the party no matter whose side the Supreme Court Judgment will swing to at the end of the day.
Sango declared that, “We have resolved to stick to the party and bring it out of the mess it has found itself in recent times and go all out to win the 2019 general elections and relief Nigerians of the prevailing hardship.”
The Chairman attributed the crisis being experienced in political parties in the country to indiscipline.
“Discipline is crucial to the survival of any political group. Without discipline, no organization can forge ahead or achieve its goals.
“We must place the political party above our individual interests and return to the old days of party supremacy if we want to move forward,”
he said.
He tasked the members to be firm and ensure a thorough job, noting that the revival of the PDP as a strong vehicle for capturing power
was solely in their hands.
Sango said that the party would soon replicate such committee at the local government and ward levels so as to reunite its members toward
focusing on achieving its objectives.
The Chairman tasked the inaugurated 7-Man Disciplinary Committee to be firmed and do a thorough job toward restoring discipline in PDP on the
Plateau.
According to him, the party would soon replicate such a committee at the Local Governments and Federal Wards towards instilling discipline
across the state.
Responding, Mr Ibrahim Kafi, Chairman of the Committee thanked the Party stakeholders for finding them worthy to serve in the committee
and pledged to do their best to restore sanity in the party in the state.
“With your prayers, support and cooperation, we shall not fail in this assignment towards ensuring that we remain a formidable party in the
country, ’’ Kafi assured.
Other members of the committee are; Mrs Hanatu Bugama, Zakari Mohammed, Moses Gwom, Simon Barry, Auwal Haruna and Norbert Langkwap.
