The Presidency has debunked reports claiming that President Muhammadu Buhari’s official photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo, has been sacked.
Omoboriowo was a prominent figure in Buhari’s travelling convoy in the early days of the current administration and frequently uploaded images of the President at different functions on his social media pages.
However, with Buhari hardly seen in public, he appeared to have gone missing and a hastag #WhereIsBayo began to trend on Twitter in the past few days.
The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has now sought to put an end to the speculations.
“Pres. @MBuhari’s Official Photographer@BayoOmoboriowo has NOT been sacked, the report, like SH Perm Secretary suspension is totally untrue,” he tweeted on Saturday.
Giving credence to Ahmad’s claim, Tolu Ogunlesi, the head of digital communications in the presidency described the report as “fake news”.
“One day one #fakenews. Ignore all the rumours about @BayoOmoboriowo no longer working for PMB. Not everything you read should be believed,” Ogunlesi tweeted.
