The Emirate Council of Kano State has dismissed spending N6 billion of the emirate but admitted to have spent N3.4 billion since Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II took over office in June 2014.
Addressing a press conference in Kano on Monday, the senior council official in charge of finance, Bashir Wali, who doubles as the Walin Kano, told journalists that the emirate had only spent N3.4 billion.
Wali further made some details available on the expenditure and revealed that the Emir inherited N2.9 billion (exactly N2.895,165,43.77) and not N4 billion as stated in some media reports.
Afripost recalls that the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Agency (KSPCACA) has said it will investigate the Muhammadu Sanusi-led emirate council over an alleged misappropriation of billions of naira allegedly left behind by his predecessor, the late Alhaji Ado Bayero.
